Saving reels inside the app
Our Instagram reel saver is still in preparation. Until then, here is what Instagram's own app lets you do (checked against the Instagram Help Center, October 2026).
Add to Saved
- 01Open the reel, tap Options, then Save (where Save appears below the reel, you can tap it there too)
- 02To find it later: Profile → Menu (top right) → Saved
- 03Saved posts sit in a private section only you can see, and the creator isn't notified
Download to your device
- 01Open the reel and tap Sharing options in the bottom right
- 02Tap Download
- 03This works for reels from public accounts whose creator hasn't turned downloads off. Reels from private accounts can't be downloaded
Who can download your reels
- 01For all reels: change the Download setting in your account's sharing settings (Profile → Menu)
- 02For one reel: open it, tap Options, then Manage, and turn downloads off or on
- 03Before posting: tap Next, then More options, and set Allow people to download your reels
About downloaded reels (Instagram's notes)
- !They include an Instagram watermark, the username and audio attribution
- !Original audio is included only if the original reel containing that audio is downloadable
- !For users under 18 with public accounts, reel downloads are off by default
- !Changing the setting later doesn't affect copies already downloaded to a device
- !Downloaded reels aren't allowed to be used for commercial purposes
