"Is this safe to use?" is the question we get most. All the tool needs is the video URL: we never ask for your Streamable account, password or email. There is no app or browser extension to install — everything happens in the browser you already have open.

Here is how it works. When you paste a URL, our server asks Streamable's public API where the video file lives. The download button points straight at that source file, so the video data never travels through our server and is never stored here. What reaches your device is the MP4 itself — we do not hand out installers or software.

On Streamable's side, the default privacy setting for an upload is Link Only: anyone who has the link can watch it. It can also be changed to Password Protected or Only Me (see Streamable's Video Privacy help article). This tool only handles videos that are public in that link-only sense. Videos still processing, deleted, or set to private cannot be retrieved.

One more thing worth knowing: videos uploaded on the free plan are automatically deleted after 3 months (90 days), and the free plan caps uploads at 250 MB and 10 minutes. If a clip matters to you, save a copy while the link is still alive.

Video copyright belongs to the uploader. Use beyond personal viewing requires permission.
